There is also a factor included in respect of knock-out matches (cup points, or ‘CP’), based on the league
status of the relevant club. Points are divided by the number of games played. This number is then
multiplied by ten – to exclude decimals – producing the final score.
The Castrol LMA Managers’ Performance Table (powered
by Prozone) allows managers to test themselves against one
another. Points are awarded for wins and draws, with results
away from home scoring higher. Points for clean sheets and
goals scored accumulate throughout the season, while a
team’s winning margin also counts towards the total.

Okay, so the name at the top of the table isn’t too much
of a surprise... but elsewhere, things are slightly less
predictable. Look at the second column (the one headed
‘Div’) and count the number of ‘2’s. That’s right, seven of
the top 20 managers ply their trade in the npower League
Two. That’s very impressive, but of course only three of
them can earn promotion at the end of the season. Keep
an eye on that division as the season progresses... that’s
shaping up to be one serious competition.
